Carbon Planet's Carbon Saving NGACs come from domestic lightbulb and showerhead replacement schemes. The project goes into businesses and homes and replaces the lightbulbs and showerheads, thereby instituting carbon saving, via electricity savings. For each one tonne of carbon dioxide equivalent that would have been emitted had the lightbulb or showerhead not been replaced, one NGAC may be created.

Verified Emission Reduction (VER) units represents 1 tonne CO2e, that has been produced from an abatement project conducted under a non Kyoto, (e.g CDM or JI) scheme. The most common tradeable schemes that produce VER's are the Voluntary Carbon Standard (VCS) or Gold Standard. It also applies for CDM or JI projects that have been verified by an independent auditor but have yet to meet all the requirements for verification, certification and issuance under these mechanisms.
