Renewable Energy

Renewable energy projects include Solar, Wind, Small Scale Run of River Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal and many more.

AFOLU

AFOLU stands for Agriculture, Forestry & Land Use and relates to projects such as afforestation and reforestation, improved farming techniques, reduced chemical use and improved livestock management that avoids or captures methane.

Industrial Efficiency

“Industrial Efficiency” related to projects that seek to improve efficiency and promote sustainable industrial processes. Examples include utilising new technologies, fuel switching and methane destruction.

It is registered with the UNFCCC’s Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and has also been approved by the Verified Carbon Standard Board. Average CO2 emissions are reduced by 50,942 tonnes each year.

Description

For thousands of years mankind has utilised Run of River hydro power, initially used for processes like milling grain, this contemporary example now produces over 50,000 MWh each year of sustainable energy generation. As a result, annual CO2 reductions of over 40,000 tonnes are achieved by displacing the use of coal.

Description

The Luara project uses discarded biomass diverted from local industrial waste, replacing the need for firewood that was previously removed from a native forested savannah, the Cerrado. It benefits the environment by reducing methane emissions as well as avoiding deforestation by diverting the dependance the ceramic industry has on the Cerrado region.
