It’s Carbon Markets Expo time again at the Gold Coast and, as usual, Carbon Planet is there. I’m speaking today on the role of the Voluntary Carbon Markets if you happen to be passing the Gold Coast’s Convention Centre.
The Expo is a global event that tours the world bringing carbon market participants together to exchange knowledge, do deals and share insights into how we all might work better, smarter, and faster to help solve the market failure that is the direct driver of global warming.
I’ve been to quite a few of these events now, both here in Australia where I live, and also in China and Spain and what I have noticed is that the carbon markets are more than just an industry group. I liken our industry to a family. We compete, we squabble but deep down there is a genuine respect, and dare I say it, a love for the work we all do. I have worked in a number of industries over the years and this is the friendliest industry I have ever seen.
The serious players in the carbon markets all have the same goal in mind, the fundamental restructuring of the world’s economy, and none of us can do it alone.
