Carbon Planet joins SCLAA

Pressure to measure, manage and minimise carbon pollution is not just coming from green interest groups and forthcoming legislation, it’s coming at many firms simply because of their slot in the supply chains of other companies.

In Australia, serious pressure to deal with carbon pollution is coming from the Government in the form of the forthcoming Carbon Pollution Reduciton Scheme (CPRS) and the National Greenhouse and Energy Reporting Scheme (NGRS, pronnounced “angers” in some boardrooms.) This pressure will be applied at the source of the problem with the very top emitters and producers or consumers of energy already having to report under the NGRS provisions. For many companies this has led directly to alterations to procurement policies to prefer, where available, suppliers who have already taken steps to minimise their own emissions.

Supply chain pressure is currently driving more and more firms to address their emissions and, in order to better understand and thus service the needs of our many clients who face this sort of ‘virtual compliance’ pressure Carbon Planet has recently joined the Supply Chain and Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA) as a corporate member.

The SCLAA is Australia’s largest association for Supply Chain and Logistics professionals and practitioners. It delivers prosperity and competitive advantage to Australia through the development of the profession and the practices of its members in collaboration with industry stakeholders and the promotion and recognition of world’s best practice. Its mission is to serve and advance the interests of Supply Chain and Logistics professionals and practitioners in Australia.

Carbon Planet intends to use its association with the SCLAA to assist the profession in understanding and navigating the carbon economy. There are massive opportunities for early movers to capture the attention, and the business of larger clients who are more and more inclined to purchase from green providers and part of fullfilling our mission is ferreting out these opportunities for our clients. — DS
