A Sea Change – Interview

I was lucky enough to get the chance to interview Ben Kalina, Associate Producer of the new documentary film A Sea Change. Carbon Planet has been working with Ben and his team to assess the GHG emissions associated with making the film. A Sea Change is the first major documentary to highlight the other great effect related to global warming, ocean acidification. Put simply, rising CO2 levels have not only been increasing the planet’s average termerature but, because CO2 is obsorbed by the oceans, we’ve been subtly changing the very chemistry of the oceans, making it more acidic. This is already having devastating effects on fish populations.

In this interview we discuss some of the steps Ben and the team took on set to minimise their carbon footprints, the inspiration for making the film and some of the issues and concerns around environmental film making in general.
