Carbon Planet is officially Greenhouse Friendly™
It’s official! Carbon Planet’s operations and services have been officially certified as Greenhouse Friendly™ by the Australian federal Department of Climate Change. What does this mean?
Products and services which are certified as Greenhouse Friendly™ are eligible to be labeled with the Greenhouse Friendly™ Certification Logo.
Under a rigorous certification process based on the principles of life cycle assessment, the ‘cradle-to-grave’ greenhouse gas emissions associated with the production, use and disposal of certified products or services, are fully offset by approved Greenhouse Friendly™ abatement.
Consumer confidence is provided through an objective independent verification process that underpins Greenhouse Friendly™ certification.
Carbon Planet used it’s own Audit and Advisory team to perform a rigourous life cycle assessment audit on the emissions associated with our entire global operation, including this very blog. The resulting audit was then verified by the Australian and New Zealand division of the global risk management firm Det Norske Veritas who are one of the approved Greenhouse Friendly verifiers with skills in the climate change area. We felt that it was vital that the verifier understood our industry.
We are the only carbon management firm so far to have this certification, which, quite honestly, amazes me. I would have thought that any firm offering carbon management, audit or origination services, let alone any company offering carbon offsetting services, would have thought to walk their own walk. But incredibly it seems not and we are strutting! I am so proud of the team we have grown at Carbon Planet. – DS
