We are a (fairly) cool company
Last night Australian Anthill Magazine announced the winners of the 2007 ‘Cool Company Awards‘. Carbon Planet was one of 18 finalists out of over 650 entries, and one o 3 finalists in the ‘Social Capitalist’ category. Alas we didn’t win, that honour, in our category, went to the community networking site Our Community, and honestly I would have voted for them too. Our Community is an online networking tool for Australia’s 700,000 community groups and schools, offering practical linkages between the community sector and the general public, business and government. The overall ‘coolest company’ award went to Rising Sun Research, based just down the road from Carbon Planet’s head office in Adelaide. We didn’t go home from the awards dinner empty handed however. Our table won the ‘noisiest table’ award, largely due to my enthusiastic rendition of the riff from ’smoke on the water’ by British pop legends ‘Deep Purple’. Congratulations to all winners and all the other finalists. It was a great night and I am proud that Carbon Planet was considered cool enough to make it through to the finals. — DS
