The Burning Season

Awrad winning filmmaker Cathy Henkel from Hatchling Productions wanted to make sure that her new film, The Burning Season was a properly carbon neutral production. Cathy contacted Carbon Planet to organise a greenhouse gas emissions audit of the film’s production and to seek advice on ways the crew could ensure they minimised the emission of greenhouse gasses. The film itself, as the above trailer shows, concerns the use of avoided deforestation credits a kind of carbon credit that places a monetary value on tropical forests. Cathy called upon Carbon Planet’s EthicalMatching™ service to arrange that any emissions generated by the making of the film would be offset with these avoided deforestation credits. Carbon Planet used its relationship with the Chicago Climate Exchange to source these specialised credits for Hatchling Productions.

Carbon Planet is an active player in the film industry, with the skills and contacts to help your film production measure both its potential impact before shooting starts, and actual impact once the production is complete. Carbon Planet is a keen supporter of the GreenCode Project. Thanks Cathy for choosing us as your carbon partner. — DS
