Presentation at the American Club

I was invited to give a short talk last night at the American Club in Sydney. Since I was in Sydney anyway it seemed like a great idea and I am really glad I went along. The audience, a mix of corporates, not-for-profits and generally interested parties put up with me giving a short but sweet overview of how Carbon Planet works, and then I fielded questions from the crowd. It was interesting for many reasons but mostly because the questions were significantly more sophisticated than they have been at other talks I have given over the last couple of years. I’d like to thank Glen Frost at Frocomm for inviting me to speak, and encourage anyone interested to come along to a very similar talk I am giving in Canberra on Wednesday night. See Frocomm for Glen’s contact details.

The other project Glen and we are very involved in, is the Sydney Climate Change Summit. I’ll be giving a couple of talks there on July 25 and 26. Carbon Planet got to know Glen when he requested we both make his event CO2 free™ and also provide a special page for event visitors to offset their own travel to the event. The page is tailored for Australian visitors to the event and lets you choose where you are coming from, how you will get there and where you will stay. For example I will come up from Canberra by bus and stay with friends, so my total climate change impact is a mere 50Kg of CO2. If I came by plane then I’d be looking at closer to 220Kg. If I stayed in an hotel for those 2 days as well I’d be contributing 490Kg. — DS
