US rejects all proposals on climate change

Us Vs Them
The UK’s Guardian is reporting the very sad, but hardly surprising news that US rejects all proposals on climate change.

The US has rejected any prospect of a deal on climate change at the G8 summit in Germany next month, according to a leaked document.

Despite Tony Blair’s declaration on Thursday that Washington would sign up to “at least the beginnings” of action to cut carbon emissions, a note attached to a draft document circulated by Germany says the US is “fundamentally opposed” to the proposals.

The note, written in red ink, says the deal “runs counter to our overall position and crosses multiple ‘red lines’ in terms of what we simply cannot agree to”.

More than just bad news for beleaguered British PM, Tony Blair, this is bad news for the whole world. Unfortunately for all of us, the US government’s lack support for effective measures to combat climate change means we all have to work that much harder if we want to effect real change. Even the Australian government has woken up to the realities of climate change and is slowly starting to understand that something needs to be done. The apocalyptic, corrupt regime in control of the White House threatens the security and stability of the whole world. But the good news is that Bush and his evil cronies will most-likely be out of a job by the end of the year, and perhaps, with a new regime in place, we’ll see some honest and positive action on this, humanities greatest crisis. — DS
