Carbon credit plan targets ‘greenies’
Now I know this is just ego-blogging but Carbon Planet made the news today. The Adelaide Advertiser, Adelaide’s only daily paper, is running a story on us, Carbon credit plan targets ‘greenies’. It’s on page 14 of the dead-tree edition for those of you living in Adelaide.
A GROUND-BREAKING Adelaide business has created a system for individuals concerned about global warming to neutralise their carbon dioxide emissions.
CarbonPlanet allows individuals as well as businesses to buy carbon credits to offset the amount of CO2 they produce.
Chief executive and co-founder David Sag [that's me!] said it was the first firm in Australia to offer tree-based carbon sequestration to retail customers. The firm wants a Sydney office before the end of the year, then offices in London and the U.S.
It’s nice to be called ground-breaking, and, apart from the headline, the article is mostly factual. We are the only company in Australia retailing tree-based carbon sequestration credits to individuals. We don’t exclusively target greenies though, in fact most of our clients would consider themselves concerned consumers.
We are opening offices in Sydney and London over the next few months and plan to open a San Francisco office early next year. These new offices will focus on corporate sales, as our retail sales all come through the web.
“Now we’re looking at corporate emissions audits as a service, because we’ve had a lot of experience now auditing events.
“We offset the whole of the Womadelaide Festival, 1290 tonnes of CO2 for the three-day festival. We offset that in collaboration with LandCare.
“There are plenty of businesses, whether because of the CEO or shareholder pressure, [are] committed to the triple bottom line.”
“We’re happy and quite able to source carbon credits from anywhere in the world.”
We are indeed happy, and the article is correct, we provide a comprehensive emissions auditing service to help you understand your CO2 emissions and where they come from, and a brokerage service to firms, large or small, who need to buy, or sell, certified carbon credits. If your business is genuine about its environmental policy, we are here to help you. — DS
