Carbon credits blue gum plantation gets green light

The ABC news is reporting Carbon credits blue gum plantation gets green light.
A blue gum plantation for carbon credits will go ahead on Kangaroo Island.
An appeal in the Environment and Resources Court has been dropped after new information from the applicant - the Japanese electronics company, NEC - about the project’s economic benefits.
The local council’s planning manager, Paul Emes, says the current development plan favours plantations and needs to be amended.
Mr Emes says at the moment forestry could potentially lock-up three-quarters of the island.
If you have Google Earth you can check out Kangaroo Island yourself. Download this Kangaroo Island Google Earth marker. If you ask me KI could do with some more trees. I’m curious to discover how the carbon credits on KI are accredited. Carbon Planet, as Australia’s only retailer of forestry-derived, certified carbon credits, is always on the lookout for new sources of properly accredited carbon credits. — DS
