Worldwide sees income from carbon credit sales
Malaysia’s Business Times is reporting Worldwide sees income from carbon credit sales.
WORLDWIDE Holdings Bhd plans to generate income by selling carbon credits generated by its Air Hitam sanitary landfill in Puchong, Selangor. The project is estimated to bring in €2.4 million (RM11.28 million [approx AU$4 million]) in net profits between 2007 and 2012 from the sale of some 400,000 tonnes of carbon emission reduction (CER) credits.
There are many ways that businesses can generate carbon credits. The bottom line is they all work to either directly remove CO2 from the atmosphere and keep it out for a very long time, or prevent CO2 from being released into the air in the first place. — DS
