The real cost of going green
The BBC is running a show on Friday 2 June at 7pm London-time called The Real Cost of Going Green.
Is it really possible to cut your carbon emissions enough to save the planet? As part of the BBC’s Climate Chaos week, Money Programme reporter Max Flint conducts a unique experiment. He spends a week with the Hutchinson family from Teesdale - the area in the UK with the highest carbon emissions per household - and asks them to try and cut back in order to meet the proposed new levels agreed by the UN.
How will reducing their carbon affect the way they use transport and energy, and how they shop? Can they really change their lifestyle enough to use 20% less carbon a week? And what happens if they can’t?
I’d suggest they bought some carbon credits to offset what they can’t reduce. It should be interesting to see how they measure their emissions. Enjoy — DS
