Would you pay more to help the environment? The BBC want to know.

Just in; the BBC are hosting a survey asking, Would you pay more to fly if it meant helping the environment?

Environmentalists claim that aviation is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gases. They say CO2 emissions at altitude are 2.7 times more damaging. By 2050 planes will be responsible for 15% of global warming.

The aviation industry contests the figures and says it is being unfairly blamed. It says technological improvements and CO2 emissions trading is the way to cut down on air pollution. A tax on flying is not the answer.

Do you fly? What are you doing to counter the pollution you cause? If you don’t fly how do you feel about paying the environmental cost? Are bigger planes and cleaner engines the answer?

So pop over to the beeb now and have your say. Or simply read the comments of those who have posted to the site already and marvel at the range of opinions on what I regard as a pretty non-controversial topic these days. — DS
